One of the things I love about Brett’s family photography is his ability to capture action and suspension of action at seemingly the same moment — a split second that points to a history and a future, a journey of sorts.

And talk about journeys! Aug 3 marks the launch of a number of notables:

⚓ Beginning a journey: Christopher Columbus sets sail from Spain in 1492. Hoping for India, he makes landfall in the present-day Americas.

👟 Journey in 10.3 seconds: Jesse Owens wins the 100m in front of Adolf Hitler in 1936, the first of his 4 gold medals at the Olympics.

📷 Ending a journey: Henri Cartier-Bresson, master of street photography, dies in 2004 at age 95.

Where are you on your journey today, be it of the world, the mind, or your career? We’re making history with every breath we take: it may be of great or little import, but it’s going down in the book of life, baby.
